7 Top Tips for Managing your Energy

At this time of year, it's all too easy to get caught up in a whirlwind that EVERYTHING has to be completed by 31st December, isn't it?

That you have to complete your VAT/TAX return, launch a new service/product, write that book you have in, have a festive catch-up with every business and personal contact you have ever had…

Sound familiar?

Here are some 7 tips on how to conserve your energy at a time of year when normally our bodies are trying to slow down.

1. HIT THE PAUSE button every now and again so you don't end up being like a big angry bear that's been rudely awoken out of hibernation!

2. PLAN YOUR MEALS - Naturally, our bodies want to consume more energy during colder periods, so plan meals that give you maximum slow-releasing nutrition and provide comfort, but in a healthy way. I recently recorded a podcast session about this with Catherine from CATHERINE MARTIN @Women Gone Strong all about meal planning! You can listen to the podcast.

3. ELIMINATE NON-ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES THAT DRAIN YOU

4. SET UP AUTOMATIONS - So that you are spending less time in front of the screen.

  • For example, when people sign up to our newsletter, they receive 2 or 3 automated emails.

  • When you have a repetitive task that you have an email template set up in your Microsoft or google email adding someone new

  • Set up an autoresponder saying 'I'll get back to you soon response' on your Facebook messenger/WhatsApp business account with links to frequently asked questions

5. ORGANISE CATCH UPS IN THE NEW YEAR - Catch up with people in January and February when life is less hectic! You’re also supporting the hospitality industry when they’re generally quieter.

6. PLAN TIME OUT - Take time for tasks that re-energise you over the festive period. For me it’s book reading, visiting art galleries and hill walking!

7. DON'T FEEL GUILTY - It’s okay to press pause, set boundaries and simply say ‘no’ to make time for what is a priority for you!
